The reason I research productivity is simple. I think that a productive life equals a happy life.
Also, if you’re more productive than average people, you’ll advance faster in your career. You learn more. You do more. And eventually are rewarded more.
And when I talk about productivity, I talk about being effective.
Because productivity doesn’t suggest that you get the right things done. It just means you get a lot of stuff done. But that’s not what matters.
Effectiveness, however, refers to getting the right things done.
And if you want to do your job well, earn money, live a meaningful life, or learn skills, that is what matters the most. Otherwise, you just run around in circles. You might appear busy, but you won’t achieve anything meaningful.
In other words: It’s easy to do useless work. Work that doesn’t bring you closer to the outcomes you desire.
Practically, that means this: You might work for 50 hours a week, but i ...

It’s officially hunting season for Kentucky and Indiana…. Well hunting season officially started several weeks ago but with temperatures in the 90’s and me not wanting to sweat to death high up in a tree it has officially started now that the temperatures are low. Deer are beginning to move more, one deer in particular at my grandparents' farm that I have been chasing after for several years now. We named this buck “High and Tight” for his unmistakable tall and close together antlers. You can spot him from several hundred yards away. His ivory white antlers reach up into the sky higher than any other buck on our farm and most of the time it is just a tease from way too far away, when only binoculars can really get a clear picture of him. I had my first up close encounter with High N Tight last year during muzzleloader season….
I had just gotten all of my camouflage on and was headed out the door with my bow when my grandpa asked me for the third ...

In sports, 11 in a row can be a good thing and a bad thing depending on the context of the scenario. It could mean that your team is headed for a a national championship or the laughing stock of all jokes. In the case of my fanship, being a University of Tennessee fan, it meant that the Vols hadn’t won an SEC game in 11 straight tries. (I was always the one being laughed at for the record.) Eleven conference matchups and my poor team hadn’t won a conference game since 2016. Do you know how hard it is to be a fan of a team that goes an entire year and doesn’t win a single game inside of its conference? It sucks.... really bad. Countless hours were spent listening mindlessly to radio shows about what it would take to fix the team and how they would improve with the new coach. College football is undoubtedly my favorite sport to watch and cheer for and the Vols have a special place in my heart, so watching them be not-so-great for the last decade hasn’t been ...

I am naturally a semi-skeptical person, most of the time my brain processes things as “too good to be true”. Not necessarily a glass half empty type of perspective but more of a cautiously optimistic view on a lot of things. So when other agents in our office approached me, a recently new licensed agent, about a class called BOLD and how life changing it was I was of course just slightly skeptical on how truly “perspective altering” this course would be. They went on and on about how awesome it was going to be for me to take it and grow in ways that I didn’t know I could. A small part of me was in a state of minor disbelief but a large sliver of my soul was ready to take on the challenge. I mean c’mon, if that many people were raving about it then it definitely had to be somewhat good right?!? I was ready to grow; as a man, an agent, an entrepreneur, and just in general.
Man oh man, were they right……. After 8 weeks of high intens ...
